About Tudor Cottage Bed and Breakfast

The cottage started its life as a 15th century cross passage house open to the roof with head height screens dividing it and the fire burning on the floor as is evidenced by the smoke blackened beams which can still be seen in the loft.

Over the years it has seen many changes, being sometimes one house and sometimes two, without losing its essential character. In recent years it has been modernised to provide charming accommodation in a traditional rural setting where we spare no effort to make our visitors' stay relaxing, comfortable and memorable.

The cottage is in a tranquil village setting which is part of the National Trust Holnicott estate. The estate contains several picture perfect villages to explore. It is surrounded by the moorland, the wooded combes and the magnificent coastline which make the Exmoor National Park a place of such varied interest and beauty and there are excellent walking, riding and cycling opportunities.

Besides the scenery there is plenty of wldlife including the ancient breed of Exmoor ponies, red deer and many species of bird. There are also many places of interest to visit in the area with events taking place throughout the year. You can use your car to explore or you can leave it in our car park and explore on foot, by bus, on a cycle or on horseback.The long distance South West Coast Path passes through the village and the village of Porlock, which is a mile away, marks one end of the Coleridge Way - a rather shorter walk of 36 miles. We can arrange luggage transfers if required.

Tudor Cottage provides a place to relax in the guests lounge or in the garden and in the evening dinner can be found in the pubs and restaurants in Porlock or in a variety of places further afield. We will be happy to advise you. Or if you prefer to stay in, then we can usually provide a meal and a bottle of wine.
